Matcher questions answered

Clear answers about BrewMasters specialty coffee taste-profile matching — including what we deliberately do not offer.

Is BrewMasters a restaurant, coffee franchise or food delivery service?

No. BrewMasters is a specialty coffee taste-profile matching service — interactive flavour quiz, personalized bean recommendations and a curated roaster partner shelf from micro-roasteries worldwide. We do not serve restaurant meals, sell franchise licences or operate food delivery. Our Halifax studio hosts matcher and cupping sessions, not dining seat reservations.

What exactly does taste-profile matching involve?

You complete a flavour quiz covering brightness rating, body preference, aroma preference, and brew methods like pour-over and espresso. We map responses to roast profile families using cupping score bands and partner micro-roastery data. Results suggest single origin and blend options aligned to your palate — not a guaranteed perfect cup every time.

Do you roast coffee yourselves?

BrewMasters operates a sensory studio, not a production drum roaster facility. We calibrate recommendations using sample roaster data from partners and our own cupping panel evaluations. Green coffee beans are sourced and roasted by partner micro-roasteries listed on the roaster partner shelf.

Are flavour matches guaranteed?

No. Specialty coffee flavour profiles are subjective. Grind size, water chemistry, equipment, and roast age all affect extraction outcomes. Our matcher provides informed starting points based on sensory science — individual tasting notes will vary. We publish honest disclaimers rather than promise unrealistic certainty.

Can I visit the Lower Water Street studio?

Yes, by appointment Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00 AT. Studio visits include matcher onboarding or profile refresh sessions with optional cupping context. Contact us to schedule — walk-ins cannot be accommodated because we do not operate restaurant-style service hours.

How do roaster partners join the shelf?

Partners apply through our roaster partner question channel. We review roast profile transparency, cupping score documentation, direct-trade sourcing claims, and batch size traceability. Acceptance requires agreement to our listing standards — we do not charge franchise fees or restaurant licensing fees.

Do you sell coffee equipment?

We focus on bean matching, not roasting equipment retail. We may reference extraction tools in educational content, but BrewMasters is not an e-commerce shop for drum roasters or café gear. Equipment questions are outside our core service scope.

What is your refund policy?

Digital quiz tiers: refund within 14 days if no personalized picks were generated. Subscription Taste Map: cancel anytime; partial month refunds are not issued but shipping can be paused. Partner bag purchases follow each roaster's own return policy — BrewMasters facilitates matching, not fulfilment.

How do you handle personal data under PIPEDA?

We collect only information needed to operate the matcher — quiz responses, contact details, and consent records. Data is stored on Canadian infrastructure with access restricted to authorized staff. See our Privacy Policy for full details including retention periods and your access rights.

Is green coffee safe to handle at home?

Green coffee beans require proper storage — cool, dry, ventilated space away from contaminants. Unroasted beans are not ready to brew; roasting produces heat and smoke requiring ventilation. Roasted coffee should be consumed within freshness windows. We provide handling guidance but you assume responsibility for safe storage and preparation.
